The Hormel Institute
In 1942, the Hormel Institute was created at horse stables at the home
of Hormel Foods then-CEO Jay C. Hormel. Today, the University of Minnesota
research facility has been on the leading edge of bioscience discoveries, known best for naming Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. The
most recent breakthroughs have been in proving the cancer-prevention
properties of ginger and green tea.
